The Hospice House provides
patients and families with the comforts of a home-like environment
in our “Home-Away-From-Home.” The Hospice House is located
at 312 E. Alta Vista
in Ottumwa. (Same location as Hospice Offices).

THREE LEVELS OF HOSPICE CARE:
Acute/General Inpatient
• Symptom Management that cannot be handled at home.
• Imminent death.
Respite
• Relief for in-home caregiver.
• Used in 5 day increments.
Residential
• Care not feasible at home.
• Does not meet the Hospice acute criteria.
Nursing and personal cares, most medication, and other medical costs are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and most Private Insurance for Acute, Respite, and Residential levels.
Room and Board is charged for Residential level only and is paid by the patient/family.
A sliding-fee scale is available.
Families may stay with their loved one 24 hours a day without being responsible for nursing care.
The Hospice House Includes

to spend as much time with their loved one as possible.

Two family kitchens
A Memory Room
After a loved one has died, the family will
have the opportunity to hold a special memorial service and light
a candle that will burn for twenty-four hours in memory of their
loved one.
